Allonby Beach

Allonby, Cumbria

Allonby has a beautiful shingle and sand beach which forms a vast expanse of sand at low tide.

Allonby beach has the potential to be a fantastic place to visit. However, the Environment Agency has rated the water quality as poor every year since 2012 and they do not recommend bathing. At the time of our visit on 28 August 2016, there was brown film to the surface of rock pool water at low tide. Slurry type mud also at low tide and dirty foam at high tide. Dog excrement in and around footpaths leading to beach. Great for windsurfing and kite surfing........just don't fall in.
