Cramond Beach

Edinburgh, City of Edinburgh

A sandy beach close to Edinburgh. It is possible to walk over the causeway to the island at low tide but keep an eye on the tides as it is possible to get cut-off.

the tide times on this site are miles out, I arrived at crammond beach at 9.30 am on 2/11/13. the website says low tide at roughly half 7 am and high tide at 13.30. when infact its half 5 am for low and 9.11 am for high. nearly got stuck with the incoming tide halfway across. I know there guide line but there well off

Website is a great help, thanks. It was very accurate for today when we had a lovely trip across to the Island. We took bikes across as the first island of a project to cycle on 21 islands in 2014. http://islandbiking.blogspot.co.uk

Camping & caravans?? Allowed on the Promenade? I suspect not..

Two caravans & two camping/white vans today (22nd June) on the promenade, about 0.7 km west of the cafe near the Marine Drive roundabout. I suspect
- this is probably illegal
- that the white van that passed me at the Cramond end of the Promenade probably drove all the way along to these caravans - about 2km.

I rang the (non-emergency ) 101 number & eventually passed this on to the police.

Please dont say the gyle etc are near Cramond for car parking they are not! Folk can parkk at Cramond, the area around Cramond and down from Silver knowes. Keep valuables hiddden . The Almond is worth a walk along and so you can take the bus from town, to Cramond Brig and walk down if steps dont bother you and then have day at beach and take bus back at Cramond bus stop up past Church and Roman Fort? Ps text boxisnot ipad friendly, ,, hiden from view while typing. Pps views from Cramond island are worth it.
